The makers

We know who
makes our products

Every brand in the Sable collection was chosen deliberately. We assessed hundreds of manufacturers against the same criteria — material integrity, engineering quality, company ethics, and the experience their objects deliver. Six passed. These are their stories.

Makers

Lelo

Founded in Stockholm by three engineers, Lelo set out to bring genuine design thinking to an industry that had long ignored it. Twenty years on, their objects remain the benchmark against which everything else is measured.

Canada  ·  Est. 2003

We-Vibe

A Canadian company founded by two engineers who brought the same precision thinking to intimate design that they had applied to semiconductors. Pioneers of the couples vibrator category.

Germany  ·  Est. 2013

Womanizer

Inventors of Pleasure Air technology — a genuinely novel approach to stimulation that uses contactless pressure waves rather than direct vibration. Now part of the Lovehoney Group alongside We-Vibe.

Fun Factory

The oldest brand in the collection and one of the most respected. Fun Factory designs and manufactures everything in Bremen, Germany — including the first-ever rechargeable vibrator and the original pulsator.

USA  ·  Est. 2014

Dame

Founded by two women — an engineer and a biologist — who brought a clinical rigour to product development that was absent from the market. Dame's approach to research and materials is exceptional.

Maude

A minimalist wellness brand that treats intimate products with the same design seriousness as any other object in a considered home. Gender-neutral positioning, restrained aesthetics, exceptional materials.

How we choose

The Sable standard

We assessed over two hundred manufacturers before making our first selection. Most failed on materials alone. Of those that passed, many failed on ethics or manufacturing transparency. The six we carry are not a compromise — they are the result of a rigorous process applied consistently.

We maintain ongoing relationships with each maker. We review new products before adding them. We remove products that no longer meet our standard. The collection changes slowly and deliberately — never because something is trending, always because it earns its place.

01
Material safety

Body-safe certified materials only. Medical-grade silicone, stainless steel, or verified ABS plastic. No phthalates, no latex, no unverified composites.

02
Engineering quality

Products must function reliably, charge consistently, and be backed by a minimum 1-year manufacturer warranty. We test before we list.

03
Company ethics

We assess manufacturing transparency, labour practices, and environmental commitments. We do not carry brands whose ethics we cannot verify.

04
Experience delivered

The product must deliver meaningfully on its premise. Clever marketing without genuine performance does not pass our assessment.
